Packing is defined by the production of any type of materials, which have a different nature with an aim of their:

  • Preservation
  • Protection
  • Organisation
  • Delivery
  • Representing of goods



Packages are designed to relieve beverage consumption. Collecting information about packing has a line of characteristics, which together depict the whole treatment. These characteristics are  the following ones:

  • Package type
  • Material of package
  • Package size
  • Carbonation
  • Physical condition
  • Sterility



On a market, packed waters are distributed in a large spectrum of different shapes. According to style of packing, they are divide in:

  • Bottled waters
  • Waters in cans
  • Balloons
  • Bidons



Package of waters can be made of different materials such as:

  • Glass
  • PET
  • Cans from aluminium or steel, with a layer on an epoxy base
  • Polycarbonate
  • Cardboard package from multilayer material (paper, aluminium foil, polyethylene foil)



Volume of package is dictated by  the method of packing, so according to the volume of package, waters can be found on the market in the following type of cubage:

  • Bottled (0,25 l; 0,5 l; 0,75 l; 1 l; 1,5 l and 2 l)
  • Waters in cans (0,33 l and 0,5 l)
  • Balloons (3 l; 5 l; 6 l and 8 l)
  • Bidons (11 l; 15 l; 19 l and 25 l)


Package design is connected to a mark of product and beside the label; it represents trademark including quality of product package which plays a crucial role during the packed water purchase of indecisive consumers.
